Course Description

In order for an implant restoration to be both esthetically and functionally successful, the dentist must conduct a thorough treatment plan analysis and complete a prosthesis design. The dentist has to carefully calculate the space needed for the restoration and soft tissue in the restoration process. The restoration and soft tissue are affected by the three-dimension (3D) position of the implant, as the implant’s depth determines the ideal length of the crown. When determining the 3D position of the implant, the dentist must consider the biological aspects required to ensure the restoration’s biological integration with the patient’s hard and soft tissues. The restoration needs to be the first component considered in the treatment plan and its margin used as a reference to place the implant 3 mm in apical direction (3A) to ensure the space for the biological width, and 2 mm of buccal bone (2B) needs to be maintained after implant placement to avoid its resorption. Simple to complex cases will be presented in this presentation to explain the 3A-2B rule.

Course Objectives:

  1. How to make a case analysis, design and creation of new pink and white esthetics
  2. Application of the 3A-2B biological rule
  3. How to transfer all the information from the laboratory to the patient
